The selected particle size has great influence on the separation index of dry double-barrel permanent magnet separator. The index of coarse particle level is better than that of fine particle level. This is mainly because when dealing with coarse grain level, due to the coarse material, less moisture and mud content, it is easy to disperse on the cylinder, which is conducive to the separation of magnetic and non-magnetic ore particles, and also conducive to improving the processing capacity. Moreover, the fluctuation of ore feed has little effect on the sorting effect. The ore is coarse, the weight is large, the centrifugal force on the roller is also large, so the roller speed must be strictly controlled. And pay attention to adjust the position of baffle in time with the change of speed. When the speed is high, the baffle should be far away from the shell, and when the speed is low, it can be closer. When dealing with fine grade, because the material has fine particle size, more water and mud content, it is easy to clump, and it is difficult to disperse on the surface of the shell. The clump ore particles are thrown into the tailings under the action of centrifugal force, making the tailings grade high. The ore particles are fine, under the action of the magnetic field, the formation of the flux, coupled with the bond of water and slime, so that the flux is difficult to disperse and discharge slime in the process of magnetic turnover.
Such flux entering into the concentrate will reduce the grade of the concentrate. In addition, the weight of fine ore particles is small, and the centrifugal force is smaller than that of coarse ore particles. Therefore, the tailings throwing belt is narrow, and it is not easy to intercept the ore by baffle. In order to reduce this effect, the ore can be pre-graded according to particle size, and the coarse and fine grain levels are treated separately under different conditions. When dealing with fine grade, the ore feed amount should not be too large, and the roller speed should be properly increased, so as to reduce the thickness of the material layer, strengthen the centrifugal force and magnetic stirring, destroy magnetic agglomeration, and throw gangue into the tailings.
