The main factors affecting the dry magnetic separator index are ore properties (grade, magnetism, particle size and moisture, etc.), equipment performance and operation level. Under certain working performance conditions, operation regulation shall be determined according to the properties of ore treated and the requirements for product indicators. Operation adjustment factors mainly include roller speed, baffle position and ore feed size, reasonable adjustment of these three factors, can improve the magnetic separation index.
The adjustment of roller speed is to determine the size of the centrifugal force on the surface of the cylinder and the strength of the magnetic rollover effect of the magnetic particle. With the increase of roller speed, the centrifugal force increases and the magnetic turning effect is enhanced, which is conducive to improving the taste of concentrate and the amount of ore treated. But speed up, throw out a lot of tailings, tailings taste is also improved; On the contrary, by reducing the rotational speed, the effect is just the opposite, the grade of concentrate and tailings will be reduced.
The adjustment of baffle mainly refers to the upper and lower tailings baffle, adjusting the position of baffle can control the level of tailings grade (or the size of tailings). The closer the baffle is to the shell, the more tailings, the higher the taste of tailings. At the same time, the amount of ore will be reduced correspondingly, and the grade of ore will be improved. The further the baffle is from the surface of the cylinder, the opposite effect is achieved. Of course, the change of ore content and ore grade will inevitably affect the grade of concentrate. When the ore content in the upper roller is small and the taste is high, the grade of concentrate in the lower roller is also easy to improve, which is particularly obvious when dealing with coarse ore.
The adjustment of the ore amount, its size determines the thickness of the roller on the material layer, the ore amount is large, the material layer is thick, the magnetic force on the surface of the material layer is small, easy to be thrown into the tailings, increase the tailings grade. When the fine grade is treated, the concentrate taste will be reduced, and the ore feed should be reduced to ensure that the required separation index is obtained.
