We often encounter a problem when manufacturing NdFeB permanent magnet materials: the corners of the blank product are prone to oxidation. So, what are the reasons for the oxidation of the corners of NdFeB blank products?

First of all, it should be clear that oxidation phenomenon is an unavoidable result of NdFeB blank products during processing, storage and transportation. Secondly, the main reasons why the corners of NdFeB blank products are prone to oxidation are as follows:

1. Improper processing. When manufacturing NdFeB permanent magnet materials, multiple processes are required, some of which will generate heat on the surface of the material. Improper processing, excessive heating or insufficient cooling will cause concentrated heat generation on the surface of the material, causing oxides to easily form at the corners of the blank product.

2. Surface quality issues. If the NdFeB blank product is damaged during processing, or there are oil stains, oxide scale and other undesirable contaminants on the surface, oxidation reactions will easily occur at the corners of the blank product.

3. Improper protective measures. NdFeB blank products need to be packaged and stored after they are manufactured. If the storage environment is dry or the protective materials are improper, oxidation reactions will easily occur at the corners of the blank products.

In order to solve these problems, enterprises can start from the following aspects:

1. Improve the processing technology, rationally configure equipment, ensure that the temperature and time during processing are controlled within the specified range, avoid overheating or insufficient cooling, and reduce the chance of concentrated heat generation on the surface of the blank product.

2. Strengthen surface treatment, especially surface cleaning and coating. When applying protective material, you should ensure that the protective material can completely cover the surface and corners of the blank without leaving any undesirable contaminants.

3. Proper storage and packaging. NdFeB blank products should be stored in a clean, dry and well-ventilated place, and attention should be paid to moisture-proof, sun-proof, fire-proof, anti-theft and other protective measures.
