Magnetic separation is a common beneficiation process in mineral processing, according to the magnetic difference of materials to separate it, widely used in the separation of black, non-ferrous and rare metal ores and the removal of iron impurities from other minerals, often used in the treatment of magnetite, titanium magnetite, hematite, limonite, siderite, chromite and manganese ore. As a common magnetic separation equipment, according to the treatment of different materials, magnetic separation equipment can be divided into dry magnetic separator and wet magnetic separator.
Dry magnetic separator is the mainstream magnetic separation equipment, is also earlier used for industrial low intensity magnetic separation of other magnetic separation equipment, suitable for arid areas, can be selected into large, coarse particles strong magnetic and fine particles weak magnetic ore, simple process flow. Common dry magnetic separation equipment includes: dry weak magnetic field separator (in addition to iron, magnetic pulley), dry strong magnetic field separator (induction roller separator, dry magnetic disc separator, dry roller magnetic separator).
Magnetic pulley is used for preselection of large strong magnetic ore. It is generally used after the coarse grain of raw ore is broken and before the final crushed product is broken into the grinding, which can throw off waste rock, improve the grade of the ore into the grinding and reduce the grinding cost.
Induction roller magnetic separator is composed of electromagnetic system, separation system and transmission system, can be used for recovery of ilmenite in seaside placer, or chromite, monazite, wolframite, iron ore and other mixed concentrate separation.
Dry magnetic disc type high intensity magnetic separator is used for the selection of rare metal coarse concentrate, magnetic coefficient greater than 5.0*10-7m^3/kg, particle size is less than 2mm weak magnetic ore separation.
Dry roller type magnetic separator has two magnetic roller relative configuration, formed a closed magnetic circuit, driven by turbine deceleration mechanism, can be used for sorting particle size of 3mm containing a variety of different magnetic mineral materials.
Dry magnetic separation has higher requirements on materials. Materials to be sorted must be dry and independent of free form, otherwise it will affect the effect of magnetic separation. In addition, the efficiency of dry magnetic separator is mainly restricted by three factors: roller speed, baffle position and the size of the ore feed.
Wet magnetic separator is a widely used magnetic separator in iron ore concentrator, which can not only be used for sorting operations, but also replace the magnetic dewatering tank as the concentration equipment before filtration.
