Alnico magnets and NdFeB magnets are two common permanent magnet materials that differ in many ways.
1. Different appearance
NdFeB strong magnets contain metallic neodymium, which is easily oxidized and requires surface plating. Alnico has good corrosion resistance and generally does not require surface treatment.
The difference in materials between AlNiCo and NdFeB. The fracture surfaces of the two products are different. NdFeB is a very fine small crystal, while the AlNiCo cross section is much rougher and the crystal particles are larger.
3. Different working temperatures
NdFeB can generally withstand 80℃. Alnico magnets are 300--500℃ (Alnico magnets will demagnetize at temperatures exceeding 600℃, so we generally say that the working temperature of Alnico magnets is less than or equal to 550℃).
4. The difference in magnetic strength between alnico magnets and neodymium magnets. Alnico is a high-temperature-resistant magnet, but its magnetism is very weak. The more high-temperature-resistant the magnet is, the weaker the magnetic force is. The magnetic force is inversely proportional to the temperature resistance. The magnetic force of neodymium magnets is much stronger than that of alnico.
5. Comparison of AlNiCo density and NdFeB density
The density of NdFeB magnets is 7.5-7.6g/cm3, and the density of AlNiCo magnets is 7.0-7.4g/cm3.
6. The price difference between the two is that AlNiCo is expensive because of its strategic resources of cobalt and nickel. It is rarely used by customers, and now many customers choose NdFeB instead.
7. Differences in application
Alnico magnets are commonly used in the manufacture of sensors, measuring instruments, motors, generators and other applications that require high temperatures and high magnetic field stability.
NdFeB magnets are commonly used in the manufacture of electric motors, wind turbines, magnetic couplers, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment and other applications that require strong magnetic force.
