Nomenclature of Ferrite Magnets

Ferrite is commonly used in the production of inductors, transformers and electromagnets in the iron core, the high resistance of ferrite can reduce its eddy current loss. The iron core of ferrite is also often placed on the power line and signal line of the computer, known as the magnetic bead, can avoid high-frequency electromagnetic noise (electromagnetic interference) into the equipment or from the equipment.

 

Early computer memory used remanent records of hard ferrite cores, typically assembled into arrays of magnetic core memory. Powders of ferrite are also used in magnetic tape coatings, most commonly iron oxide.

 

Ferrite particles are also used as radar-absorbing coatings for stealth aircraft, and in laboratories for the measurement of electromagnetic phase capacity, ferrite particles are also used to absorb electromagnetic waves and avoid reflections.

 

Many radio magnets and loudspeaker magnets are ferrite magnets, which have replaced aluminum nickel cobalt magnets in this field.

In electric guitar pickups, magnetic pickups also use ferrite as their magnetic material.

 

Ferrite magnets have their own naming rules, now basically use the Chinese naming rules. Originally there were Fer 3 or Feroba 3. These rank names are no longer used. By then, the initials "C" had been used to name the grades, such as C5 and C8. The US and UK still use such rules. Now most ceramic hard magnetic ferrite magnets are produced in China, so the Chinese grade designation system is commonly used in Europe, and is also widely accepted in the United States, where the rule begins with Y.

 

Fer 3 or Feroba 3 is now known as Y30H-1. Ferrite C8 is also known as Y30H-1. Fer 2 or Feroba 2 is now known as Y30. Ferrite C5 is also known as Y30.

 

Most ferrite magnet grades begin with a C, or with the Chinese designation Y. But sometimes you'll also see grades like HF26/18 (which is the grade of Y30), which is a European naming rule, but not used in all continental Europe.

Ferrite magnets are usually anisotropic (their direction of magnetization is fixed and they have better magnetic properties); There is also isotropy (magnetic direction is not fixed, weak magnetism) such as C1, Y10T and HF8/22.

 

Chinese ferrite magnet naming system is like this, it starts with Y, Y is ceramic permanent magnet ferrite, a total of 27 grades.
