NdFeB magnet is a very common magnetic material with high magnetic properties and good corrosion resistance. It is widely used in manufacturing various electronic products, auto parts, mechanical equipment, etc. On the market, we can often see two types of NdFeB magnets: bonded NdFeB and sintered NdFeB. So how to distinguish these two magnets?
1. Appearance distinction
The color of bonded NdFeB magnets is mostly black or gray, and the surface is usually smooth; while the sintered NdFeB magnets are silver gray and have a rough surface. Also, the two magnets are slightly different in shape and size because they are manufactured using different processes.
2. Differentiation of magnetic properties
Magnetic properties are an important indicator for distinguishing magnet types. The magnetic properties of bonded NdFeB are usually lower than those of sintered NdFeB, generally between N35-N52, and can reach up to N55. The magnetic properties of sintered NdFeB are higher than those of bonded NdFeB, usually between N30-N50, up to N52.
3. Price differentiation
The manufacturing process of bonded NdFeB magnets is simpler than that of sintered NdFeB magnets, and the production cost is also lower, so its price is relatively low. However, due to the complicated manufacturing process of sintered NdFeB magnets, the production cost is also higher, and the price is correspondingly higher.
Through the distinction between the above three aspects, we can initially identify the bonded NdFeB magnets and sintered NdFeB magnets on the market.
In addition to differentiation, we also need to learn how to use and care for magnets correctly. For example, keep the magnet dry and avoid soaking in water for a long time; when using the magnet, do not overlap it excessively to avoid affecting the magnetic performance of the magnet; avoid dropping the magnet from a high place to avoid affecting the magnetic performance of the magnet, etc.
